Works an absolute charm.
Wildly easy to use, and a TON of useful features.Purchased to diagnose an ESP code in my 12’ Volkswagen Jetta. Had tried two big box stores and their readers just gave me a blanket “accelerator issue”… when this arrived, plugged it in, selected VW specific, and alas… instantly got a code for a throttle body failure. Ordered and replaced the throttle body for $70, and my car is running perfectly. It had paid for itself in the first use, and I plan on keeping it for any future issues I may encounter. Highly recommend!

A truly great code reader!
Way more than what I expected! It has a ton of features, that will clearly separate it from normal scanners. the app was easy to install and was extremely easy to understand and was by far one of the most intuitive interfaces for an auto repair app. the app will even forward you to you tube instructional videos that will help you understand the codes that it receives.

Good scanner, not so good instructions
Mainly purchased to be able to reset service reminder on an Audi S5 that can only be done with and OBD scanner, or by the dealer at a cost of at least $40 a visit. This scanner can also do many other functions including the parking brake motor release if changing rear pads/discs. The device needed an update first thing. Only problem was the download from the Ancel site came in a file I couldn't open. Had to contact Ancel to have them send me a ZIP file of the update that my PC could read. Once that was done, the update quickly completed. Once done, I attempted to reset the service reminder and it would not reset. I followed the rather bleak and incomplete instruction pamphlet that came with the scanner and it still would not reset. Contacted customer service and after multiple back and forths thru email (likely from China) over several days, it finally worked. There was a step I was doing based on the written instructions that was apparently not required which prevented the reset. I wrote my own instructions after that. The battery functions work well to test the condition of the battery. It's supposed to also be able to register a new battery, but again, the instructions are incomplete and sketchy. Since this is primarily a VAG scanner, it would be nice of Ancel to include better and more complete instructions geared towards VAG vehicles. Way to much guessing and/or trial and error to get it to work correctly.

Works to reset factory service interval on Audi Q5
I was having trouble finding something to do a simple factory service reminder reset that can only be done with a $300 VCDS cable. I tried another subscription-based bluetooth tool and was disappointed to see this feature was an add-on charge to the subscription! When I read other reviews for this tool I was a little skeptical about it doing the reset, but to my surprise it did without issue. I hate that I had to buy this too just to reset the annoying service reminder, but at least it was a buy-once tool that I can use on any vehicle in the future and is not tied to a subscription or VIN count. Since I will only use it about once every 2 years I hope it is still usable then, but for now this saved me money over all the other options available.

Don’t bother
Purchased the VD700 thinking it would be a helpful tool for doing relatively basic maintenance on my Audi Q3. It turned out to be more of a headache than anything.Right off the bat, it errors out when trying to connect to the ECU. I saw some other people said they had a similar issue and it was fixed with a firmware update. Following the instructions that ANCEL has available online, I updated the device to the most current firmware version. It’s very apparent that the software development and technical support are Chinese as there’s a lot of language discrepancies.Unfortunately the firmware update didn’t change anything and I was still unable to get the device to connect to the ECU. Out of frustration I boxed the item back up and dropped it off for return. I opted to go with a Carista EVO device instead. Hopefully I’ll have better luck with it.My advice to anyone looking at the ANCEL device is to look elsewhere.
