It's been a long haul but it's finally 'action' recording
CCTV issuesI was initially very disappointed as I looked at dozens of camera reviews and looked at all those that Which? recommends. I chose this one because there were no reviews under 4- star and I read all the comments and reviews.I came upon so many issues during the first week and it's been hard work - I posted questions on Amazon, which were not answered. I contacted the seller via Amazon and received a message from Milly to say that she was on holiday. I contacted the company via their websie and received no reply and their, so called video tutorials didn't work. Also, their documents are zipped and I could only access them on a Windows laptop! So this is my experience to-date - on an 'Android' Tablet - I stress this as other systems may react differently.1. The Amazon product description says it has a 10ft power lead. It is 5ft, maybe 6ft if you include the wire that it connects to - which is actually attached to the CCTV camera. We have also had to buy a single socket extention lead. Milly says the description has now been rectified.2. The leads coming off the CCTV camera, for the power, Internet and reset are so short, they are not long enough to go through a two-leaf brick wall with cavity. We have had to buy a waterproof box to house the wires and run the 5ft power lead (on an extension) from the house into the box to connect up with the CCTV camera wiring. (Somebody mentioned in comments that he'd put the leads in an external box but he didn't say why). Milly says she has fed this back to the manufacturer.3. The manual is extremely confusing, especially when it gets to: Video settings: code rates/frame rates and streams. (Just ignored this and hoped that it is set to how it should be to work properly.) Wifi settings: make sure you're connected to 2.4GHz not 5Ghz. (I have absolutely no idea about this. Just hoped for the best.) SD card: Amazon description says you can use up to a 128g card, which I bought. Manual says if you use a 64g or 128g card can't recording (yes bad English) it continues: you need to format the SD card to FAT32 format on your PC. (I did try a 32g card and a 128g before mounting the camera. The 128g does work. The camera formats them. At first the 128g didn't record to the 'online' icon just the 'local' icon in the app but after an hour, it seemed to be doing both. I've been assured by Milly that it hasn't been formatted to a 32g, it is still a 128g.) E-mail: To send notifications to email, you have to input the Smtp server, port etc yourself. You get this info via a link in your gmail account (configuration instructions). You also have to set up POP mail. This entails downloading a Microsoft Outlook App and enabling POP and IMAP in Gmail. (It didn't work because apparently Gmail blocks Outlook as it considers it a risky source. You can override risky sources by going into security in gmail.) The manual then says you need a specific password. (I couldn't get one because I don't have two tier verification on my account.) All this to receive alarm pictures.FTP Server: It then asks you to put in the FTP server address and port, which is for backup (I think)! No idea about this but may try to find out what it means and how to do it at future date (one of the questions I couldn't get an answer to). It's just far too complicated and I decided not to go with email notifications or online storage at the mo.In summary:The camera connects to the App via ethernet cable attached to the modem. This is the easy part. You can then remove the ethernet cable. The CCTV photos and videos are saved to the SD card (fits into a small screwed compartment) and you can view the videos on the iSmCam app for Android (which is downloaded from Google Play). Any videos you want to keep can be downloaded to the local section in the App and from there, downloaded to your own gallery. Can't fault the image, it's very clear. It was days before it produced a single video overnight (which is why we bought the camera in the first place) not even programmed videos, which it does produce during the day in-between action videos, although even during the day it would stop working for periods of 1-3 hours at a time. (This was finally rectified but it wasn't straight forward. I had to add +1 Europe/Amsterdam to the time setting - there isn't a UK setting. I've asked Milly to mention it to the APP manufacturer. This made the camera work overnight but scewed all the times - it was really confused. The camera was an hour ahead at night but ok during the day plus it recorded 6am then 7am then 6am etc... In the end, I took the tablet off daylight saving time and put the time in 'manually' and this seemed to have been the turning point.)Plan recordings/action recordings: Even with a 128g SD card, the recordings overwrote themselves in a night. So at 8am, recordings were only visible from 2am or 3am. Our camera is set up on a busy street, where cars, bikes, cats etc are constantly passing. I switched the recording schedule off and now just have 'action' recordings to stop the SD card overwriting itself so quickly. The audio is of poor quality on our street. It crackles badly if the volume is up high (may be the wind) but turned down (which stops the crackling) nothing can be understood. We have mounted ours at the top of a two-storey house. Maybe at door level, you would be able to hear!During the week, I wondered if the tablet has to remain open for the app to work but Milly says it doesn't and, in fact, it went down several times even when the app and the tablet were both open. What I mean by that is the image is still clear but it didn't actually video, even when we've moved our car out or returned it! I even downloaded an App which kept the screen from swithing off! However, it now seems to be behaving itself. I've switched the screen App off and closed the camera App and shut the tablet and it's still recording. For some reason, the connection drops off when I open the App and click on the camera or go between camera and video but as I'm looking at it, I just click on it to reconnect it.It has been very frustrating and for that reason and the fact that I don't/can't have all the functions working, I have given it a 4-star. I am very happy with the image quality and it is now action recording.

Great camera, average app, flaky WiFi!
I needed this camera for a personal issue, where I needed to protect my property from unwanted visitors. Having installed cameras before, I was aware of some of the pitfalls, and found installation relatively easy. It has a great picture, good night vision, but you need the app that is recommended to set it up properly. It's biggest downfall is it's WiFi reception and transmission. My other 2 cameras although fixed, get a better signal from my router even though they are further away. In the end, I purchased a powerline kit to get a wired connection to the camera. It's now much easier to use for all functions by taking away a flaky WiFi connection. You may get a better signal with a better aerial, I couldn't take that chance, as I record 24/7 to my network drive. The leads from the camera are a bit short, but I already had waterproof box to feed them into. I still haven't worked out how to make an automatic patrol from my NAS drive's security surveillance app, but I'm working on it.Update 18/9/2019 - After a big storm, unfortunately the camera suffered water ingress. Milly at Tonton has been excellent, sending out a replacement camera without question as soon as the problem was shown, and even sending a second camera after the original replacement was lost in transit. The replacement is installed and working perfectly, and I would like to say thank you to Milly and all at Tonton Security for their excellent customer service.

Excellent security system
Tonton Full HD 1080P PTZ IP Dome Camera ONVIF 5X Optical Zoom,2.0 MP Waterproof Outdoor WiFi Security Camera with Motion Detection, 2-Ways Audio, Night Vision up to 200ft, Metal Housing . Now that I have finally got the system up and running , I am really pleased with the quality of picture, sound and ease of control from both my phone and PC. That said I had initial teething issues setting up the app on the PC and password issues. I tried contacting Milly but it took so long with responses via email ( 48 hours before I finally got a proper diagnosis and by that time I had figured out the issues on my own merit ) that I consider support help via whatsapp or emailing as inadequate, especially so when you at opposite ends of a time zone. That is the reason I have given a 4 star rating as opposed to the full 5 star rating. All said I am intending to get more security cameras from Tonton in the near future.

Excellet solution for use solo or as upgrade for existing Tonton or other NVR unit
I bought this new camera to increase camera range on a 4 cam NVR Tonton unit I have set up. I made the initial mistake of assuming this unit would connect to the existing Tonton NVR wifi network but when it was verified by Tonton support that this camera is designed to connect to home wifi routers or via Ethernet; I was quickly able to connect the new camera into the existing NVR system via the home router and have all footage recorded centrally. The unit itself feels well made with a metal construction and reassuring quality motor sound for the panning/zoom functions. Excellent image quality in day and night with the use of inbuilt IR LEDs that track with the camera housing. The unit is very easy to install as a stand alone to an existing home wifi or LAN router; and once you know the process; very easy to install onto an existing NVR.Tonton support is amazing and certainly sets them apart from other manufacturers. They literally will connect to you on whatsapp and walk you through any problems. Outstanding. Will be updating with photos here this week.
