Veggie peeler high quality
My old peeler cracked in half after years. I didn't want a new one like the old. This is heavier and longer so I ordered this item and found it easy to use, comfortable in your hand, very sharp and fast to use. It glides through veggies fast and can slice thin pieces for salads or fresh potatoes to make chips. I doubt that I will ever need another.

Cullinary light saber
Long, long ago, in a Marine Corps far, far away, I developed a real appreciation for Japanese culture, girls, food, motorcycles, product quality in general... and vending machines with beer in them.It may be a lesser know fact, but over there, they have a very Japanese approach to things, with their unique pragmatism and appreciation for elegance and efficiency. Shocking, right? As a general rule, when they make something, the maker wants it to reflect well. It shows.Ever since my time there, if I don't get an American made product first, I will go out of my way to find Japanese made products, like this simple, humble, peeler.I've yet to be disappointed with any product I've so selected and this thing is no exception.I had a $5.00 wally-world (ccp) piece of... you get it... which broke. Of course. The blade ended up in the garbage disposal and I had to fish it out of there. Ta-daaa!Anyway, since I needed a new peeler I decided to quit screwing around and get a real tool for the job.By comparison, there is no $#%&#$* comparison. This thing is a light saber and you will be going full Jedi Knight on some carrots and stuff.Quality steel. Sharp! Will stay that way for a long time. Simple and elegant. Highly efficient use of materials and well executed production. This thing makes the work so much easier, faster, less effort, I kinda hate myself a little bit for not doing this in the first place.Thank you Japan.Love the peeler!

PERFECT PEELER IN EVERY WAY
I love it! I have compared this sharp peeler with at least 10 others, (without an additional cover). All were Inferior:-/. Others were too small or too dull or broke in days to weeks! This is Sturdy, and extremely great looking peeler, is very easy to peel any hard or soft object with its sharp blades, that also last forever and feel great to hold aside from having a free and easy slip on cover so not to cut yourself:)) I strongly suggest you try one, hey you can always return it : if you have no idea how to use a phenomenal performing peeler!!

Very Sharp - Great peeler.
By far the best peeler I’ve ever had. Would love it if it was a regular size- more like 5” or so.

Great quality - blade remains sharp after many uses.
Great quality peeler. Large blade make short work of peeling larger vegetables.Very sharp blade. I highly recommend this product.

Works great but huge.
It works good and works well on peeling oak trees and pine and fir trees. I don't understand why they have to make it so huge. Are they re-using old katanas to make these? It can double as a weapon if ninjas invade your kitchen.

This can handle practically anything!
I’ve been looking for a vegetable peeler that doesn’t jam up with peelings in its blade for a long time and finally found it. On top of that, this one is sharp and heavy duty enough that I was able to peel a butternut squash with ease and speed. I always peel away from my body, not towards, and have never come close to cutting myself. The peeler cleans easily (I don’t put knives and other sharps in the dishwasher) and the guard is wonderful when it’s in the drawer. I imagine the handle would be more comfortable for someone with larger hands (mine are small for a woman) but I’m not complaining - it’s other features make up for it, and I certainly don’t experience discomfort. It feels very secure in my grip. Highly recommend!

Costly but worth it
It is very sharp but, so are many of the less expensive peelers. The thing I like about it is that the blade is big. My problem with other peelers is that with soft fruit the blade fills up after a couple of peels and you have to stop and clear it before you can continue. This one keeps going. Like many Japanese things, it is costly but excellent. If you are only going to peel potatoes and carrots you'll be fine with the $3 ones. However, even with potatoes, you will have to stop every once and a while to clear the blade. If you want to peel peaches, mangoes, and ripe pears I think this is a better choice. Like many good steel blades, it must be dry before storing.
