I didn't realize until I actually got this that it was probably designed to just be a decoration instead of a functioning spoon rest. If you lay it down where the spoon handle is towards you, you won't be able to read the words on it. It does have a hole in the handle you could hang it on the wall. I still think it is a sweet gift and good quality from what I saw.
