Q: how big is the hole for hanging. I am using the 3m command hooks and the plastic hook is too big for smaller holes thanks

Marty,Hi, Um; in the standard measurement the holes are 7/16's each. the front hole of the clamp is 7/16th of an inch and the hole ion the rear of the clamp is 7/16th of an inch too.I have no clue what the measurement is in metric.I hope this helps some what.

the backing board on mine measures 9" x 12 3/8", but from the bottom edge of the clipboard to the metal paper stop of the paper clamp measures 11 1/2". With a standard size piece of copier paper in the clipboard there's 1/2" of backing board showing below the bottom of the paper.

Yes. It is the standard clipboard.

Q: Can the clip be removed and screwed back on?

The clip is held to the board with two rivets. They could be drilled out and the clip re-installed with two screws and two nuts. If you do this, I would recommend two - 8-32 x 1/4" truss head screws and two - 8-32 nuts to tighten up. The head of truss head screws are thinner other screw heads. If you put the screws through the back of the board into and through the clip and then the nuts on the clip side of board would lay pretty much flat on any surface. I would also use phillip head truss screws as they would have a smoother surface.
