Rpi3 Alu Case with fan*1

Built like a tank.
This thing is built in such a way that I'm reasonably certain you could throw it off a building and still be able to use it once you found it again.Pros:- Very solid construction- Doesn't appear to mess with WiFi- Comes with heat sinks and screwdriver- Amazing silicon feet provide insane amount of gripCons:- The fit is a bit tricky, you have to push and nudge and squeeze to get all the pieces in place.- There are 4 screws per side panel, but 1 screw on each side has nothing to grab onto inside. At least on mine, the screw would just spin in the hole forever without ever getting tighter, and then it would fall out later on when you moved the case. Frankly it looks rather weird with an empty screw hole on each side. (This is actually the reason for the 4 stars for me.)Attached a pic that points out where the screw holes provide nothing to screw into.

Not bad, fan is noisier that I was expecting (video included)
Let me start out by saying that I wanted a case that had a fan so that i could overclock my Raspberry pi 3. I saw this one and I liked the fact that it was an aluminum case that offered a little more protection than the standard plastic case, and that it had a fan! I had already ordered and installed 2 aluminum heatsinks, one on my GPU and the other on my CPU. Once I received the case I was happy with the build quality of the case, however, the threaded holes that the sidewall screws went into weren't full circles. Every hole had a gap in it giving it a crescent moon shape, which made me nervous of the stability of the case once assembled. I did have some trouble getting the sides on and found it best to install the side with the USB ports first (after the top and bottom were together). Another thing that I had to find on my own was the correct set of pins to use for the fan (this is pretty simple with a Google search). After everything was assembled I started it up and noticed that I couldn't hear the fan running, that's a plus right? Well it turns out that the fan was wedged against the heatsink for the CPU (the large one) and wouldn't rotate. I had to file the heatsink down to about 4mm tall so that it would clear the fan blades once assembled. Also, as a side note, most heatsinks that are sold on here come with 3M tape, do youselves a favor and remove the tape, clean it with alcohol and apply some thermal paste. The tape acts as an insulator, not a conductor.I finally got everything together and working and it does a great job of cooling my pi down, but the fan is noisy. I could get by with the sound of the air moving, but there is an electrical hum that is really annoying. I was hoping for an easy, silent, long lasting case, but it seems like it’s just one thing after another. I would give it 4-5 stars if the fan was quieter, if you watch the video you'll understand. I took it with my phone, and it's close to the pi, believe me, you can still hear it from 5 feet away. Overall I would say that the case itself is good, my only real complaint is with the fan. After all it’s the reason that I bought this case. Sorry for the horrible quality of the video, apparently it lost quality after being uploaded and transferred from google drive.

Nice professional look
This gives your project a nice professional look. I am giving this three stars because the power connector hole is an issue. Not sure if the microUSB connector on the Raspberry Pi sits too far back on the Pi board or the hole though the case should be enlarged. I couldn't power up my Raspberry Pi with it mounted in this box. One other factor to consider is that when you connect your cable to the GPIO, you have to snap the case together. Should you need to open the case to access the Pi board, this will take a little bit of work. I think the GPIO slot could have been moved down that would allow the two pieces to slide together and apart.

- Very sturdy - Easy assembly - Looks good Cons
Pros:- Very sturdy- Easy assembly- Looks goodCons:- Zero airflow in or out of case (no vents except I/O ribbon slot)If you're looking for a case for your Rasp Pi 2/3 and don't care about additional cooling, I can't recommend this case more. Personally, I was using this case for a RetroPie setup, and the case would get warm to the touch after a hour of gameplay. The Pi never got to a temperature that resulted in throttling, but as a PC builder/enthusiast I never like my components getting hotter than necessary. This convinced me to get a different case with active cooling for that project. However, if you're running a RaspPi in an application that doesn't require constant CPU load, I think this is the ideal case.

Best Raspberry Pi Case I've used, but some room for improvement
This is without a doubt the best Raspberry Pi case I have ever used. I've purchased 30 for my job from various vendors. They are sturdy and easy to assemble. The case is very good at dispersing heat. The fan is quiet. It comes packaged with extra screws in case you drop one. There is some room for improvement. The bolts for the fan seem like they might fall lose over time. I recommend adding some glue or locktite. This should include more heat sinks. I supplement buy adding one to the bottom of the Raspberry Pi.Quality Control Issues5 of 30 units 1 defective screw mount (4 black cases, 1 red)1 of 30 units had two front plates instead of a front and back plate.7 of 30 units defective screw driver (usable)2 of 30 units. defective screw driver (unusable)

Cool looking case.
It actually looks TOO good to be honest. I like how the pi looks like a DIY project (I have a retro pi) but this case makes it look like a professionally made product. It looks so good that plugging things into it seems like a shame. The case is all metal. No plastic pieces (except the optional stick-on raspberry pi logo). The logo looks really good in my opinion. This case is very light but adds just enough weight to let it hold itself in place with its sticky bottom pads with cables pulling on it. It feels very strong and well protected. This feels stronger than the ultra thin metal on most metal phone cases.

Not for heatsink, fan combo
Excellent case except for being able to run fan/heatsink together. Intrustions are easy to understand straight forward. Everything fits extremely well sdcard easy to pop out without a problem. The biggest problem I have is that the case should of been designed for a fan and a heatsink combo not just the fan. I have to have the case on it's side so the fan doesn't slide down and have contact on the heatsink other than that great case. I'm running a 5mm height heatsink on the CPU ordered 4mm to see if it still occurs.

- Nice looking and sturdy box; but, lacks manufacturing precision
This extruded aluminum case looks good and it is very sturdy; however, it lacks manufacturing precision when used with a Raspberries Pi 3. First, the fan installation instructions are missing which caused me to redo the installation after I discovered that the air flow was blowing inward. So, I unglued the sticker on top of the case (which partially obstructs the air flow) to access the fan screws, flipped the fan around and put everything back together. To my surprise I noticed that the fan stopped turning. After investigation, I found out that the fan was resting/pushing on top of the RPi board heatsink which prevented the fan from turning freely and also added stress to the RPi board. I took the box apart again and I modified the heatsink to make a space between the fan blades and the top of the heatsink and finally the fan is blowing air the way it should be. In addition, the opening of the far right USB connecter does not have clearance which pushes the RPi USB connector inward when the side plate is screwed in place. I had to take the box apart again and forced the PRi 3 board to the far left to slightly increased the clearance between the right USB connector and the side plate cover.Conclusion:- Nice looking and sturdy box.- Fan installation instructions are missing.- Lacks manufacturing precision: - Sticker on the of the case partially blocks the fan air flow. - No clearance between the fan blades and the top of the RPi board heatsink. - Openings on the side cover do not match the position of the PRi USB connectors.

Good fit and pretty straight forward
I got this case for my Raspberry Pi 3 model B. The case is pretty sturdy. The thickness of the faces doesn't flex easily. The assembly instructions are pretty clear except for which way to mount the fan. The only indication of the correct way is the picture found on this website. The blades of the fan must face up when fully assembled (i.e. when bolting the fan to the top face, point the fan blades TOWARDS the face). Also, the face with the ethernet and USB ports was a bit hard to fit in place. I had to push the ports out of the way a little bit to push the face into place. I didn't put the top sticker on because it looks like the ventilation holes on the sticker are too small for the opening in the case. The fan makes a little noise but not enough to be bothersome.Despite all these issues, I'd buy another one if the time comes.

Good unit ... Little issues
The unit itself is great...HoweverThe fan is a little on the noisy side...the fan doesn't have an arrow directionthe instructions don't tell you what pins to use on the pi...All things that I can live with I found the pins on the interweb and fan mount was trial and error and the unit is behind the TV so I really don't hear it...

- Beautiful Case and very well designed - No WIFI interferences ...
- Beautiful Case and very well designed- No WIFI interferences (no faraday cage issue)- The case is getting hot (around 25 degree) while playing : no more!- I would have appreciated a 3rd heat sink for the chip below the raspberry Pi 3

Great!
Very nicely build raspberry pi skin! Build quality is top notch! It's very easy to access all the ports and swapping microsd cards without much issue. A lot of thought went into the case! Another bonus of adding a couple extra screws (easy to lose as they are small) was a nice touch.

Very nice case
I got it a few days after. It's really built with metal, it does not looks cheap and the fan is quiet. I'm satisfied.I just got disappointed with one thing. When I got it, the black sticker on top was already glued to it. I had to take it off in order to install the fan. By chance, I have small fingers and I successfully unglued it without bending it. I assume it's not a common mistake from the seller so I rate it 5 out of 5 anyways.

Love this little blue box
Love this little blue box. It seems to circulate the heat well with the included heatsinks during IPTV on kodi and performs really well in Retropie. Doesn't get too hot. Hours on kodi and never once did my Pi overheat. Not even the little yellow lightning bolt that appears on your screen if your Pi is getting too hot. Still have to test longer in Retropie but have no issues so far! Love it and would definately recommend.

a great case for a raspberry pi
A very well built case. And looks good as well.. If it had just a slight larger opening for the micro.SD card, it would be even better, easier to use, and then most certainly worthy of 5 stars.

Beautiful case, everything fits nicely (all the screws too)
Beautiful case, everything fits nicely (all the screws too). There is not much of ventilation holes. I let one of the plate off for this purpose. The raspberry does not overheat when I monitor temperature, even on great load.

case of Raspberry Pi
Awesome case, very well build goes together cleanly, the rubber feet give it some grip when placed anywhere. and the red color is a nice option.
