The cage itself looks nice and the size is on the smaller size but alright for my roborovski dwarf hamster. Now. The water bottle doesn't seem to work but thankfully I had an other one that I used instead. The wheel though.... SOOOO SQUEAKY!! After adding a little bit of olive oil it seems to be doing better but man oh man! Oh and the little hideout had a little weird burn mark on it. So overall not bad but not great. Especially for the price.

I am rewriting my review after a few months as it has a lot of shortcomings.1. It's too small. Hamsters need min 450sq inches of unbroken space to run around. The base is much smaller than that.2. The plastic shelf adds a second level so more floor space but it is segmented and limited. This large middle tray also prevents the bedding from being deep enough for good burrowing. If you fill it up deep with bedding then the tray gets in the way and hamster cant really run around the bottom area.3. The wheel being in the middle is a bad design as also prevents having deep bedding. Had much issue of the hamster moving bedding to that middle area to try and burrow there resulting in the wheel being buried constantly. I ended up using a dremel tool to cut away a large section at the back of the plastic tray so that the wheel could be mounted to the cage wires at the back. This provided better design for burrowing.4. The water bottle doesn't allow water out. Seems to have 2 balls in it rather than just 1. The provided wheel seemed ok but somehow got a large crack in it right away so I had to replace it. If you mount wheel in middle on provided mount it is also not stable. Before relocating wheel to back I had used a lego piece glued in place to support it and wobble less.5. Just a small access hole on the top of the cage. This makes it very difficult to do maintenance or access pet without removing the whole top.Short story.. After paying so much for this a few months ago we are now already replacing it and will be making a diy bin cage instead using a $30 110L clear bin. Please don't buy this junk cage. You are better off to make a bin cage, ikea linnmon cage, or finding a cage with a larger base and more open design. Even with my modifications to this cage I can see that the hamster has very limited area to run around or burrow properly

I received this and could tell it had been opened. Factory tape on box was cut and newer tape on box. When I opened it item were placed outside of their plastic bags. Smaller items loose on bottom if box. Instead of requesting a return I bought a 2nd one (wanted to make sure they all weren't this way) 2nd one arrived I could tell right away the Factory tape had never been removed so this time it was good. Now it's to late to return that first cage so I'm stuck with it. Everybody make sure you're not getting a used return like I did.

The middle section of this (the 2nd 'floor') was cracked when I received it. Not to the point of it being unusable for my TINY Chinese dwarf hamster babies. But it did arrive cracked. I looked up their customer service number and called them right away - this was on a Friday afternoon. I explained the situation. They asked me to take pictures of it and send them the Amazon order info via email. I did that, late on that Friday. They shipped out that piece and I received it 4 business days later. They were excellent to deal with and shipped it to me quickly. I didn't need to send anything back. Just took pictures of the cracked piece. And they shipped me that exact piece to replace it with.My 2 little hammies love this cage; though I do use a different wheel for them. They're so tiny, I use a small, 5" wheel instead of the large one this comes with. They have lots of room to run around and they climb all over the upper cage part. The bars are only 1/4" spacing. So, they can't get out. They're in there, safe and snug. And I can see them because of the clear bottom section; which I love. I highly recommend this cage for dwarf hamsters. Not sure if it would be enough room for more than one full-sized hamster, though.
