Great Blacksmith Brush
This thing works amazingly well for a multitude of uses. I primarily use it while doing blacksmith work to clean decarb and forge scale off my metal, but it also works very well to clean the grills in both my gas and charcoal based grills.

First impression, critical dimensions; yes, it has flat scrapers, not wire
If you know what this is, skip below. If you've never seen one of these, understand that this is more of a weapon than a brush. It doesn't have bristles, it has flat, tongue-like spring steel scrapers. It's TOUGH. It'll eat through your fiberglass bathtub in short order. You can carve a hole in your cedar picnic table.Winco #225. Made in...China. I haven't used one of these before, but it looks good. Block and handle are red oak and millwork is very good though not quite finish sanded. The handle is so precise I'd say it's milled on a CNC router. The wood is actually furniture grade in quality and finish. Block is 3-5/8" by 9-1/4" by 1" (92 x 235 x 25mm). Handle is stout, nearly 7/8" (22mm) stock, attached from below with two plated screws. Ninety-six sockets, each with three U-shaped scrapers stapled very uniformly and solidly with decent gauge plated staples. That's six scraper ends per socket, a total of 576 scrapers for the brush.Scraper stock is 0.4 by 3mm, or .016 by .116 inch and is dead consistent. Exposed length is about 30mm or 1.25 inch. Ends are sheared or anvil-cut and consequently seriously burred--this thing's downright violent out of the box. Don't accidentally plow it across the back of your hand. One hard stroke will take you down to the tendons. Time will tell about the quality of the spring steel. There are many reviews of this as a blacksmith's scaling brush. That's what I bought it for, as I begin to experiment with forging. I'll repeat that this brush is in a different league than even the best mechanic's wire brush. It'll destroy many materials. Bargreen dot com describes a butcher block brush's intended use as, "...removing contaminated layers on butcher blocks and cleaning burned-on food, carbon deposits and other debris from broilers, grills and ovens." No doubt. That makes it, in a sense, a hand-held manual planer. It ought to make a first-class BBQ grill brush, but I imagine it'll take the plating off of your oven racks. I can see it being great for removing rust scale. Actually, I think I'll order another to maintain my Lodge Sportsman grill. The cast iron is scaling after years of use and this is just the tool.FWIW, every Winco item I've bought, online or at the local restaurant supply, has been of good quality. Love their nonstick aluminum pans.

Very well made strong and sturdy. I’m off to the forge to use it right away.

It really cleans
using for blacksmithing, and it really works great. The handle is not all that secure and will most likely replace with something sturdier, but the actual brush is amazing.

Brush for Forge Scale
Works great for removing forge scale from my blacksmithing projects and it’s held up nicely so far. The bristles are metal slats that are hard and tough enough to scrape the scale right off of whatever I’m working on.

Does the job hands down!!
Use this for work in cleaning a Grill nightly and this thing does the best job hands down! It just about cleans my Grill single handedly, and leaves very little left for me but touch up stuff. The teeth strength and spacing is spot on. The wood handle is helpful in keeping my hands away from the heat of the Grill, but also allows for two handed use for leverage. I have recommended this to colleagues and they have had results like mine.

Quality Brush for Blacksmithing.
I use this brush to remove scale from hot metal while blacksmithing. It is much more effective than the steel brushes I had been using. It is hefty and durable. I expect it to last a long time.
