There is no sound when door is open.

Detex Exit Door Alarms
This alarm alerts when someone goes through a restricted area, but as soon as the door closes, the alarm stops. We are not able to disable the alarm for a work shift without leaving the key in it, so it has limited our use of the specified passageway. The alarm is loud and piercing, so it definitely will alert occupants of an intruder.
