SMARTRO SC62 Wireless Indoor Outdoor Thermometer, Weather Station Color Large Display, Room Hygrometer Temperature and Humidity Monitor

I really like having a weather station and bought this one to replace one (not this brand) that no longer transmits outdoor temperature, which is the main feature I want. This station got great reviews which influenced my purchase, however it has more features than I want or need. My main complaint, it's only be in operation a matter of hours, is that it's not easy to read the outside temperature from a distance. Those numbers are in blue. The other numbers are easier to see. I do not want or need alarms for time or weather but both can be turned off. The other thing is that it only has an indent on the outside transmitter for hanging purposes. My other one had a space at the top that you could thread something through to hang it and secure it better than just hanging it from a hook. The instruction manual had no information on where to hang the transmitter except a suggestion to hang it under a roof eave. Nothing about distance or other recommendations that I could find. I might have overlooked that but could not find it. As long as it keeps transmitting the outdoor temperature I'm happy. That's really what I wanted it for.

The first thing I liked about this unit is that it is user friendly, the right size and the colorful display. The look and feel of the unit shows that it is a quality unit...even the packaging it came in was premium and worth keeping in the closet with the instructions. There are no pushbuttons but icons to touch to program the unit. One note, read the instructions in its entirety before you program the unit because there may be a couple of stumbling blocks that you may encounter. First there is the time zone...in the US we are used to Eastern , Central or Pacific time ….this unit goes by numbers and since it is sold globally, the numbers go from -12 to +12....I live in New York so I am in the -5 zone which is Eastern and when it becomes Daylight savings, we will be in the -4 zone.....You also need to set up the air pressure or Atmospheric pressure at the time you are programming it.....It happened to be 29.62 InHg for me at the time of programming...you can get this info easily when you go to your search engine on your computer or cell phone to find that out....just install the city and state you live in when you get to a website for the info......the last item is the current weather you are in ...sunny, cloudy and so on.....and that is all you need to know so it is not difficult to set up …..I am glad I purchased it....

I bought this for use in Singapore and thought that it had USB power rather than mains power as a backup to the battery. I was concerned that I might need a transformer so that I wouldn't frazzle it when I plugged it into the wall. So I sent an email and the customer service rep, Zoe, responded very quickly confirming that I could plug it into the wall just with an adapter, no transformer required. I can confirm that this is the case.The display is very clear and it was reasonably easy to set up and pair with the external sensor. The graphic picture of the weather (sun/cloud/rain etc) and pressure doesn't seem to change very much: I have never seen “rain” for example, even though we have had rain here, and sometimes heavy rain, but it could be that I have calibrated it incorrectly. Instructions tell you to calibrate the pressure, but don't tell you how to do that so I'm rather at a loss here (suggestions gratefully received!)But all in all I'm pleased with it.

This is a good wireless weather station that performs it's primary function just fine. However there are a couple of things I found very annoying. First, the daylight savings function is broken. I configured it correctly for my time zone (Central time), but it adjusts for DST as if it's in Europe/UK (ie the DST adjustment starts two weeks late and ends a week early), so I still have to make a manual adjustment. Second, there's an alarm feature that's on by default (set to midnight), so that after any power loss I get awakened at midnight (or 1am if the first bug is also in effect!)

I agree that this is a very nice well-made product. Yes I’m at pointed out if your eye level does have to be somewhere Bob the unit to get a proper reading. On aa end table next to our couch, my wife had to raise up in order to read it. We resolved that problem by placing a deck of cards between the back of the unit and it’s frame, tipping it more upright. One unresolved issue is their customer service. I had a question and sent an email to be email address provided in the user guide. No response. I tried again several days later, no response. It looks like the email address is bogus because the emails were returned after a couple days as undeliverable.

Overall can’t complain too much it works gives an outdoor and indoor temperature. It seems accurate and the weather forecasting is decent.My two issues are the moon phase it’s always a phase behind the actual moon phase and the format of the date. It’s set DD/MM not MM/DD, so for example January 10th reads 10/1 not 1/10 which is confusing because 10/1 is October 1st.I know outside the US DD/MM is common but if the product is being sold from a US distributor to the US market it would make sense to make the date format correct for our region or at least offer an option to change it to the preferred format.

Been looking for a long time for the perfect one between features and price to use in our RV. I particularly wanted forecasting features and a clock face that is easy to see. I want to mount permanently on a wall and ran 12V DC for it. Upon receiving it I determined it's 4.2V DC and battery powered, so I have to wire in a cigarette lighter outlet and use a 12V to 4.-5 V adapter like one for a USD / cellphone that use that voltage. Otherwise all is fine. Wiring just won't be as "clean", but inside a cupboard and easily within my capabilities.
