Isaiah: The Lord Saves (Living Word Bible Studies)

Awesome study of Isaiah!
Another great Bible study by Kathleen Nielson! She takes difficult to understand Bible books and passages and breaks them down into easy-to-understand sections with thought-provoking questions that help you get the true meaning of the text without a lot of commentary or feelings-based questions. Excellent resource for anyone who wants to study this meaty, meaningful book of the Bible!

Appropriately named Living Word Bible Study
I waited until I was deeply into this bible study to review it, and I can say that it is extremely well done. It is not preachy or rigidly based on the writer’s opinion only. It cross references scriptures from both the Old and New Testaments to reinforce the truth that Isaiah spoke. The questions asked are contemplative and complex. There are no answers given. You must discern them for yourself. I begin with a prayer that God speaks to me through what I am learning and for understanding what I am reading. I am finding it so enjoyable to learn in this way, that I can hardly wait for my study time each day. There is enough history lesson to explain how Isaiah’s writings affected many generations, and to see how it plays out in today’s world, as well. Occasionally I use online commentaries to reinforce what I am gleaning from this study. This is so well done, I can hardly wait to finish it and move on to the next Living Word Bible Study.

Great cross-references & interfaith study
As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, I love this study. I'm working through it with my Christian BFF and study partner. The author's cross-references connecting Isaiah to the rest of the Bible are very enlightening. As a Latter-Day Saint I believe Isa. 2:2 is talking about the temple in Salt Lake City, Utah. (Utah means "in the tops of the mountains.) Chapter 18 is very meaningful to me as well. (Have you noticed the angel blowing his trumpet on LDS temples, calling Israel (the covenant people of God) to gather?) The Book of Mormon quotes many Isaiah chapters and I realize now why those specific chapters are quoted. They're about the latter days, and the gathering of Israel, which is happening NOW. Thank you for this superior, thought-provoking study. We've learned a lot, and see more clearly the voice of Jesus Christ through his prophet Isaiah.

Favorite - will try her other study
Some avoid studying Isaiah deeply, although it is highly quoted in the N. T. Author seems to be a consumate scholar of the Bible as a whole. She gives excellent starting points for considering not only what the text is saying and why, but also how it applies and to whom, without adding her own interpretation. Good historical background, intuitive organization, and helpful cross references, but the reader and the Holy Spirit have to do the work!
